Todd Washburn

Engineer

The alternative music of the early 1980s came through the music video explosion of the early days of MTV. Signed to indie label 5th Wheel Records in 1982, Todd’s Charlotte, NC band Panic released their debut LP and played tour dates with Billy Idol, The Producers, Sheila E., The Tubes, and The Romantics. Todd went on to establish a recording studio in New York City, where he wrote and produced music for Straight Up Management and Cayman Music (Bob Marley) publishing, and recorded projects with the Jonzun Crew and Maurice Starr (New Edition, New Kids on the Block) in Boston. He relocated to Hampton Roads in the 90s and founded Lure Records, which evolved into a pop country label, yielding a string of top ten hits on radio charts in L.A. and Nashville, and a nomination of “True Country Label of the Year” (2008) by the Roots Music Association of America alongside MCA, Sony BMG, and Lost Highway. His music production and engineering skills subsequently led him to an exclusive deal with Scorekeepers Music of Los Angeles, who have licensed and published over 600 of his original music cues for broadcast television worldwide.

Todd began freelancing as an audio production engineer at WHRO in 2015, where he has been involved in studio design, live broadcast and audio recording for radio and TV. He is now full-time staff as a Television Broadcast engineer at WHRO.
