Heather, a public media professional by trade, discovered her love for music at an early age when Santa brought her a cassette player. The day after Christmas, she purchased her first cassette tape, Plastic Letters, by the band Blondie. She was 7. Rather than enjoy recess, Heather often talked her girlfriends into staying in the classroom and practicing dance routines to the Grease soundtrack; this eventually led to lip-syncing in front of an open window, to albums purchased at garage sales, and charging the neighborhood kids a quarter to see the show—the price included a dixie cup of Kool-Aide. Throughout high school, Heather attended many concerts. Although disappointed that her parents would not let her attend the Grateful Dead concert, she made 50 sandwiches and sold them out of her jeep to the concertgoers in the Hampton Coliseum parking lot for 5 dollars each. Her love of new music continues to this day.
